INDICATIONS:
NICLOSAMIDE
Active against Tapeworm and intestinal
Flukes such as Paramphistomes in ruminants .Effective against mature and immature Tapeworms (Scolex
and segment) in Sheep, Goat, Cattle, Poultry etc.
Pharmacological
properties
Benzimidazoles binds
to beta-tubulin (a structural protein) and blocks polymerization of tubulin
into microtubules. This damages the integrity and transport function of cells
within the parasite.the antiparasitic effect is a lethal.
Niclosamide inhibits oxidative phosphorylation in
mitochondria of cestodes; anaerobic metabolism, on which many cestodes are
dependent, may also be inhibited; scolex and proximal proglottids are killed on
contact; scolex is loosened from intestinal wall and may be digested.
