Indications: Ivermetcin
Sheep:
- Gastrointestinal worms (adult and immature): Haemonchus contortus,
Ostertagia circumcinta, Trichostrongylus spp., Cooperia spp., Nematodirus spp.
(including N. battus), Strongyloides papillosus, Oesophagostomum spp. and adult
Charbertia ovina.
- Inhibited larval stages and benzimidazole resistant
strains of H. contortus and Ostertagia circumcinta are also controlled.
- Lungworms (adult and immature): Dictyocaulus filaria.
- Nasal bot (all larval stages): Oestrus ovis.
Goat- Gastrointestinal worms (adult and immature): Haemonchus
contortus, Ostertagia circumcinta, Trichostrongylus colubriformis, Nematodirus
spathiger, Strongyloides papillosus, Oesophagostomum columbianum and adult
Charbertia ovina.
- Lungworms (adult): Dictyocaulus filaria.
Indications: Rafoxnide
Immature and adult Fasciola in ruminants;
sheep nasal bot Chan Broad Spec is effective in the treatment and control of
roundworm, lungworm and fluke infections in cattle and sheep.
Pharmacology - Ivermectin enhances the release of gamma amino butyric acid (GABA)
at presynaptic neurons. GABA acts as an inhibitory neurotransmitter and blocks
the post-synaptic stimulation of the adjacent neuron in nematodes or the muscle
fiber in arthropods. By stimulating the release of GABA, Ivermectin causes
paralysis of the parasite and eventual death. As liver flukes and tapeworms do
not use GABA as a peripheral nerve transmitter, ivermectin is ineffective
against these parasites.
Rafoxanide It belongs to
salicylainilide derivative, acts through uncouple Oxidative phosphorylation
inhibition thus effect on parasites is energy deplation.
With half life period
of 14days, it is found to bound plasma protein, uncoupling action is lethal to
liver fluke and blood sucking helminthes like Haemonchus
