Description:
Digestive
tonic is a combination of compounds aimed at optimization of the liver function
and prevention and correction of fat deposits.
Free fatty
acids are partly metabolized in the liver to form triglycerides, which may be
stored in the hepatocytes causing fatty liver when an imbalance exists among
uptake, synthesis, export and oxidation of fatty acids.
Carnitine, betaine,
choline and D-Panthenol
are key metabolites involved in these processes, affecting the influx of free
fatty acids to the liver, free fatty acid a-oxidation, the hepatic secretion of
triglycerides and lipid peroxidation.
Carnitine is an amino acid derivative,
synthesized in vivo from methionone and lysine. Its main function is to
facilitate lilid oxidation by transporting long-chain fatty acids into the
inner mitochonondria region where they undergo a-oxidation. Consequently, in
case of carnitine deficiencies, most of the dietary lipids nay not be used as
an energy source and accumulate in the animal’s body leading to unwanted fat
deposits. In addition, it aids in the removal of short and medium –chain fatty
acids that accumulate in mitochondria as a result of normal or abnormal
metabolism. Depending on the dietary adaptation to carnitine and the nature of
the diet fed, carnitine is degraded to some extent in ruminal fluid.
Sorbitol and magnesium
act as osmotic laxative in order to facilitate the elimination of toxic
products from the gastrointestinal tract. In addition, magnesium has an
important function as a constituent of enzymes involved in the synthesis and
metabolism of carbohydrates, lipids, proteins, and nucleic acids
Choline
is an organic compound, classified as a water-soluble essential nutrient and
usually grouped within the vitamin B-Complex. This natural amine is found in
the lipids that make up cell membranes and in the neurotransmitter
acetylcholine.
Choline
and its metabolited are needed for three main physiological purposes:
Structural
intergrity and signaling roles for cell membranes.
Cholinergic
neurotransmission(acetylcholine synthesis)
As
a major source of methyl groups via its metabolite,
trimethylglyycine(betaine),that participates in fat metabolism viat the
Sadenosymethionine synthesis pathways. As a result, choline deficiency may lead
to an abnormal accumulation of fat in the liver, reduced growth rates and musle
control, kidney damage, perosis and decreased egg production and hatchability.
Indications:
Digestive
tonic is a dietetic liquid supplement formulated to correct fatty liver
conditions, prevent liver dysfunction and correct
digestive disturbances in animal when fed a
lithogenic diet(high in oil, fat
cholesterol and cholic acid) leading to an increased supply of free fatty acids
to hepatic
cells, or when the conditions are such that increased released reales of fatty
acids from adipose tissue take place
side
effects
No
undesirable effects are to be expected when the prescribed dosage regimen is
followed
